Sherborne needs you! Volunteer Ambassadors to welcome visitors to Dorset

This summer, residents and visitors across Dorset’s most popular hotspots will be greeted by the smiling, welcoming faces of a new band of volunteer ambassadors.

It is anticipated that, like last year, many people will choose to holiday within the UK rather than travel abroad. A new host of ambassadors will be ready to welcome visitors to Dorset and will offer advice on services, facilities, and places of interest in that area. Ambassadors will be volunteers from the local community and will share their wealth of local knowledge to visitors.

Sue Fleet, Chairperson of the Volunteer Centre Dorset said:

“Dorset has so much to offer with its spectacular coastline, beautiful market towns and historical places of interest, and with overseas travel restrictions still in place we are expecting high visitor numbers.

“This programme is very much about positive engagement with the public, particularly visitors – we want people to enjoy exploring everything Dorset has to offer and to want to return to see more. We are thrilled to be partnering with Dorset Council on a project which we hope will leave such a positive legacy.”

Volunteer Centre Dorset is now recruiting ambassadors, and anyone aged 16 or over can apply. All volunteers will be DBS checked, given a uniform including a hat and backpack and will be offered training.

Volunteering can be very rewarding and this programme is a great opportunity to meet people while enjoying being out and about during the summer. To register as an ambassador, visit www.volunteeringdorset.org.uk
