We are really pleased to announce that Paddock Garden will reopen on Friday 11 March, after its recent refurbishment of the paths and maze.
Next time you visit the garden you will notice that the surface you are walking on is different. It is made from a resin bound solution, using a mix of stone and aggregates, as well as recycled waste plastic.
This environmentally, sustainable solution is called Recycle Bound and was innovated by and is exclusive to Oltco.
Developed in house by their team of technical experts, Recycle Bound is a world first, with the waste plastic that is used in the product obtained from a plastic recycling point.
Recycle Bound surfaces feature a combination of plastic drink bottles, food packaging and straws, producing innovative plastic footpaths.
The equivalent of 2,364,000 plastic straws have been used in the making of the newly surfaced paths and maze within Paddock Garden and comes with a 20-year guarantee.
Grounds and Property Manager, at Sherborne Town Council, Paul Newman who ran the project on behalf of the council said ‘We are really happy with the finished result. Oltco was a great company to deal with; friendly, conscientious, respectful of the garden and regularly keeping us up to date with how work was progressing.’
Along with the paths, local stone mason, A Dimond, repaired the stone capping and made necessary repointing repairs to the northern boundary wall. The existing benches have been given a new lease of life after being cleaned and given a new coat of teak oil and the entrance gates have been repainted, making walking into this beautiful space an extra special experience.

Sherborne Town Council are committed to investing in and maintaining outdoor spaces, as a priority area of work in the town.
The work was approved at a town council meeting in October 2021, with funding coming from the Maintenance Reserve Budget, resulting in a long-term solution to assist with future maintenance.
