Local wine shop makes the finals of the prestigious International Wine Challenge Awards
Vineyards wine shop in Old Yarn Mills has been recognised by IWC (International Wine Challenge) and made it to the finals of this year’s Single Site Retailer of the Year in the Merchant Awards. This internationally regarded accolade comes hot off the heels of their Drinks Retailing Awards win earlier this year.
The IWC Merchant Awards were launched in 1991 to recognise and reward the outstanding achievements of the UK wine trade. Vineyards is in excellent company, with huge names recognised across this year’s categories, including Naked Wines, Waitrose and Majestic.
To make it to the finals of one of the leading international wine trade awards is particularly special for the family run business who are dedicated to ‘sourcing and storytelling’ great bottles since 2005. Hannah Wilkins, along with her business partner and wife, Sadie and their small, trusted team of wine experts offer an extensive portfolio, an excellent personalised service, and a real community hub, where locals regularly enjoy tasting evenings and workshops.
The awards ceremony is set to take place on 4th July in the magnificent settings of London’s Hurlingham Club.
Hannah Wilkins comments: “2023 is turning out to be an exceptional year – definitely vintage worthy! After winning the Drinks Retailing’s ‘Best Wine shop in UK’ in February, we didn’t think things could get any better for Vineyards – then the IWC contacted us to say we were a finalist. Overjoyed does not even come close to expressing what this means to us as a small independent wine merchant in rural Dorset. We’re heading off to London in July for the awards evening, and whatever happens on the night, we can always say that we have been shortlisted and recognised by the IWC. This feeling will never get old.”
