The Sherborne Events Committee is looking to raise money, via crowdfunding, to add Christmas street lighting to the town.
The committee aims to build up the lighting on a year by year basis to make the town look festive and attractive for residents and visitors.
As this is the first year of adding Christmas lighting they are hoping to just add displays across the main shopping street. Further to this they will then start to look at adding various swags of Christmas lights each year.
The lighting to be installed this first year are two swags of LED Icicles supporting an illuminated star coronet. One swag to be fixed at the top end of the town and the second at the lower end.
It is then envisaged that each year two more swags will be added, until the entire length of the road enjoys a ceiling of illuminated icicles and stars.
