This year’s Remembrance Service takes place on Sunday, 9 November. A procession will be formed at the Digby Hall Car Park, Hound Street, in readiness to move off at 10.45am. It will be led by Sherborne Town Band and will march to the Abbey, where wreaths will be laid at approximately 11am, following the 2-minute silence.
Sherborne Town Band will play music while the wreaths are being laid, along with the Last Post.
A service will then take place in the Abbey, which will last around 45 minutes. After the service, the band will march the parade off again to South Street, via Half Moon Street (including a march past and salute taken by senior dignitaries) where the parade will fall out.
In accordance with the wishes of His Majesty the King, Medals and Decorations should be worn with civilian clothes.
The Public are requested to observe the usual custom of removing head-dress as a mark of respect on the passing of the Colours and Standard. Any wreaths being laid by the members of the public need to be in place by 10.30 am.
