Introducing the Sherborne Cup – a sustainable, reusable cup available for purchase in the new year.
The Sherborne Cup concept was inspired by Sherborne’s 2024 Sustainability Town of the Year designation, which included a £15,000 grant for sustainable initiatives in the town.
Crafted from 90% recycled steel, the Sherborne Cup is reusable, and the supplier will plant a tree for every cup made. Available in white and blue for £12.99 at local offices, shops, and cafes, with proceeds reinvested to provide more cups for the community.
The cup features artwork depicting iconic Sherborne landmarks, namely Sherborne Abbey, Sherborne House, St Johns’ Almshouse, Cheap Street Church, and the Conduit, all designed by local artist Jayson Hutchins.
Jayson said he is ‘delighted that his design is on the first Sherborne cup. He hopes that people get pleasure from the places he loves in Sherborne.’
The Sherborne Cup makes an excellent gift or souvenir and is perfect for your daily hot or cold drinks.
Other projects funded by this prize will include a pilot community transport initiative connecting the town and surrounding villages, as well as funding for a feasibility study to create a nature conservation area, footpath, and bridge at a location on the River Yeo.
Sherborne Town Mayor, Cllr Jill Warburton said ‘it is wonderful to see the final cup and know that it is sustainably sourced, re-usable and the design on it has come from a Sherborne artist.’
