A memorial bench is soon to be situated on Abbey Close near to the War Memorial. The design on the bench incorporates images of Armed Forces personnel, a War Horse, Nurse, Ambulance and poppies, along with the wording ‘Lest we forget’
Funding for the bench has come from a collaboration between the Sherborne & District Branch of the Royal British Legion and Sherborne Town Council.
The Sherborne & District Branch of the Royal British Legion underwent fundraising for which Sherborne Town Council was happy to contribute towards, in order to support the purchase of the bench and the RBL’s mission to support the Armed Forces community and ensure that their unique contribution is not forgotten.
The bench will be in a prominent and relevant location on Abbey Close and we thank Sherborne Abbey for their cooperation and support towards completing this initiative.
