Students from The Gryphon School and Sherborne Abbey Primary School have been actively involved in planting the hanging baskets that will decorate the town throughout the summer months.
Members of Sherborne’s Youth Council and Young Chaplains from The Gryphon participated in an afternoon of planting at Castle Gardens Garden Centre. Guided by Louise and her team, they created 60 beautiful baskets.
Steph Rann, The Gryphon School said ‘Projects like this are a wonderful way for young people to feel connected to their community while learning new skills and working together. Our students thoroughly enjoyed getting involved with the planting, and they are incredibly proud to know that their efforts will help brighten Sherborne for residents and visitors throughout the summer’.
An additional 60 baskets were planted by volunteers from Sherborne in Bloom and the local community, who have also contributed to various planting projects throughout the town in recent months.
The project has been generously funded by Sherborne Town Council.
Sherborne Town Clerk, Steve Shield, remarked, ‘It’s been wonderful to see Sherborne in Bloom once again supported by our community, coming together to plant this year’s summer hanging baskets. I am especially pleased that young people from our local schools have joined in to help. Special thanks to Mike and Louise at Castle Gardens for their generous support in making this beautiful project possible for everyone.’
All 120 baskets will be displayed in the town centre at the end of May, bringing vibrant colour and beauty for both residents and visitors to enjoy.
