Due to the recent changes to car parking charges in Dorset Council car parks in Sherborne and across Dorset as a whole, you may find it more economical to purchase a parking permit rather than a daily ticket, especially if you are working in the town or visit regularly.
There are a couple of different permit options available depending on how long you need to park for.
Short stay parking – up to 2 hours.
The short stay car park permit allows:
- parking for two hours every day in many Dorset Council car parks
- two vehicles to be registered per permit (but can only be used on one vehicle at a time)

This works out at £6.50 a month.
Permit holders can buy extra parking from the machine or by JustPark App (app for iPhone or Android) if they need longer than a two hour session.

Flexi stay parking – unlimited parking in the majority of Dorset Council car parks.
The flexi stay car park permit allows:
- one registered vehicle per permit
Cost and duration
- available to buy monthly or for 12 months
- £25 a month or £260 for 12 months

Please note when businesses apply for this permit they will need:
- V5 or insurance document showing permit holders address
- Evidence of employment showing that the permit holder works for a company within the Dorset Council area and showing the company address (this can be a headed letter)
- The Applicants Address must match the V5 or insurance document name and address (not the business address even if paying with a business bank card)
If the permit holder is a resident, they can apply for the permit as a resident in this case they will need their V5/insurance document and council tax bill. The company can still pay for the permit but the applicants address must be the permit holder’s not the company’s.
