Remembrance Service, Sunday 14 November 2021

A united service for all denominations will be held in Sherborne Abbey

There is a change to the order of proceedings this year, as the Wreath Laying Ceremony will follow the two-minute silence, so those laying wreaths may approach the War Memorial individually without any time restraints.

Order of proceedings

10.15am All Service, Ex-Service and Pre-Service organisations are invited to take part in the procession and are advised to arrive at the Digby Hall car park, Hound Street to enable the Parade Marshall to organise the formation of the parade.

10.30am Individual members of the public are asked to have their wreaths in position by this time.

10.40am The Procession will move off led by Sherborne Town Band and will march to the Abbey.

11.00am A two-minute silence will be observed.

11.05am The Wreath Laying Ceremony will commence. For a copy of the order of wreath laying see the Sherborne Town Council website.

The Wreath Laying Ceremony will be followed by the Remembrance Service, in Sherborne Abbey.

Seats will be reserved at the service for relatives of the fallen and for disabled ex-servicemen unable to march in the procession.

Following the service, the procession led by Sherborne Town Band, will march to South Street, via Half Moon Street.

Colours of ex-service organisations only will be carried on parade. Any other organised body wishing to take part in the procession or service is requested to notify the town council offices at The Manor House, Newland, Sherborne on 01935 812807 or email s.woodford@sherborne-tc.gov.uk.
