Sherborne Abbey Close Lime Trees Consultation

Sherborne Town Council wishes to consult with residents regarding the removal of the lime trees on the Abbey Close, Sherborne.

A public open session has therefore been arranged between 2pm and 8pm on Monday 27 November 2023 in the Studio at The Digby Hall on Hound Street. Representatives from both Sherborne Town Council and Sherborne Abbey will be on hand to speak with residents about the proposal for replanting at this location.

As part of the consultation there is an online form available to complete HERE. Hard copies are available from The Manor House, Newland.

The necessary permissions have been obtained from the Diocese of Salisbury (List B Application Approval) and Dorset Council (Conservation Area Section 211 Notice). Archaeological advice has also been sought with specialist support being available during the works.

It is proposed that sixteen new lime trees will be planted to follow, as closely as possible, the original historic layout pattern. Each tree will have its own tree guard to assist with its protection immediately after being planted.

Please contact Steve Shield, Town Clerk should you require any further information regarding this consultation on 01935 812807 or by email townclerk@sherborne-tc.gov.uk.
